Objective One’s new role for Blunging House

An old china clay blunging house at Bugle is to get a new lease of life thanks to an Objective One project.

The historic building next to Pentreath Industries headquarters is being given to the local charity by Imerys Minerals Ltd so that it can be restored and put to new use.

Imerys are also giving the rest of the site – which the charity have up until now occupied on a free-of-charge lease – to Pentreath.

Pentreath runs a variety of training and work-placement schemes to help people in Cornwall who are recovering from mental ill health. The Blunging House project will see the disused building transformed to provide extra training facilities for the charity and enable them to help an additional 125 people over the next three years.

A grants of over £16,000 from the European Regional Development Fund has been approved through Objective One for the £36,000 project to restore the building, originally used for the processing of china clay.
