New Objective One review shows project progress
A new leaflet giving details of the 22 Objective One projects announced during the first three months of 2001 is now available.
As well as outlining the projects announced between the beginning of January and the end of March, the quarterly review sets out what benefits these 22 projects will produce for Cornwall and Scilly.
The leaflet also explains what the programme is doing – in collaboration with the Cornwall Business Partnership and other organisations – to get the private business sector more closely involved in Objective One. Details are included of the first two Umbrella Funds set up to provide direct support for business and key sectors of the economy.
Programme director Bill Bawden said: “This review shows how we have built on the foundation of what was achieved during the second half of last year.
“The programme is moving ahead and readers of the review will be able to see for themselves that we now have a broad range of projects approved that will achieve a variety of important benefits for people in the whole of Cornwall and Scilly.”
The financial update in the leaflet explains that between the start of the programme and the end of March 80 projects were approved for European funding worth a total of £36.27 million. When combined with the money identified for Integrated Area Plans (community funding schemes) and technical assistance, the total allocated for this period reached £44.58 million.
Copies of the leaflet will be available from libraries, council offices or the Objective One office. To request a copy, call the Helpline on 0800 028 0120.
