Cornish Christmas at Cothele

Cotehele House, set in the spectacular Tamar Valley, holds its annual Winter Food Fair, organised by the National Trust and Cornwall Taste of the West, in mid November. The Fair will be packed full of Cornish Food and Drink, ideal for Christmas gifts, hampers and entertaining.

Local specialities such as venison, wild boar and ostrich will be available from Cornish Country Meats. Cornish Blue from the Cornish Cheese Co makes the perfect sauce with pork from Primrose Herd. Wash that down with Countryman Cider and be tempted by Trenance Chocolates from the Lizard or Helsett Farm’s Cornish Ice Cream which comes in 30 flavours including Christmas Puddings surrounded by brandy ice cream.

Take home some cream from Trewithen Cornish Farm Dairy and just add Boddington’s Strawberry Conserve to create the perfect cream tea, or for the sweeter tooth try Butter Fudge from the Ivy House.

To finish off that special gift or hamper The Cornish Smoked Fish Co, from Charlestown, will be on hand with smoked goodies ranging from salmon to mackerel.

The Fair will be held on Saturday November 16th, and the National Trust gift shop and grounds will be open for leisurely walks in the magical atmosphere of the 15th century house and gardens. The café will be open for weary shoppers to rest and sample even more delights of Cornish produce.
