New-look website launched at Royal Cornwall Show

The Objective One website, www.objectiveone.com, goes live with a new look next Thursday, June 6, on the first day of the Royal Cornwall Show.

The site has been redesigned to make it easier to use and to keep you up to date with what Objective One is doing in your area.

A clickable map takes you to different areas of Cornwall and tells you how to contact the Objective One team nearest to you, who you should speak to if you have an idea, and how they can help. There will also be monthly news updates from the local teams, and you can find a full list of existing Objective One projects that apply to your area.

There are separate pages for each of the Objective One Task Forces, which cover different sectors ranging from business to heritage, and how to contact them. A new feature of the site is a Financial Highlights page that shows you the financial status of the Objective One programme, including how much money has been spent and how much has been committed to projects across Cornwall.

The latest news section will keep you up to date with weekly developments, and there is a section containing media releases about the Objective One programme and individual projects, which will soon also include photography.

The website upgrade has been carried out by Truro-based Catalyst Webdesign, a partnership between local businesswomen Sheila Gill-Sparrow and Miranda Parry that was set up three years ago and now boasts an impressive list of clients.

Miranda said: “We were delighted to be chosen for this project and it’s certainly kept us busy. We were asked to give the site a new look and make it even easier to navigate, and so far everyone who’s seen it has been impressed, so I hope other users feel the same when it goes live on Thursday.”

Carleen Kelemen, Objective One Deputy Programme Director, said: “We first launched the Objective One website at the Royal Cornwall Show two years ago and it has proved a huge success in helping people understand all about the programme and what it is achieving for Cornwall.

“The latest upgrade is in response to requests for more information and for a site that is easier to use, so we hope we’ve come up with something that people like. Some areas are still being fine-tuned but we expect to have everything fully operational very soon.

“It’s also a happy coincidence that Catalyst Webdesign is owned and run by two women, because part of Objective One’s remit is to support and encourage more women in higher skilled jobs in Cornwall.”

Ms Kelemen will be attending a Professional Women’s Network lunch at the Royal Cornwall Show on Friday June 7 hosted by Cornwall Enterprise, when details of a new forum for professional women in Cornwall will be unveiled.

Speakers at the lunch will include Gaynor Coley, managing director of the Eden Project, and Janet Mutch from the Objective One Partnership Office, who will discuss Equal Opportunities Issues.

Also at the Royal Cornwall Show, visitors can look out for exhibitors who have benefited from Objective One funding. In the Food Hall, for example, 20 out of the 30 food and drink producers exhibiting have been supported by the Objective One programme, proof that local businesses are really feeling the benefit of the funding, support and advice available.

And the more adventurous can try their hand at the James Bond Challenge, brought to you by greenleisure.co.uk, the company behind last year’s show hit, laser clay pigeon shooting, which has also benefited from Objective One funding.
Teams of Young Farmers Clubs from across Cornwall will be competing against each other, as well as other entrants, for the coveted ‘007 Trophy’ - a test of climbing dexterity, speed of reaction and aim with the gun. This is the latest themed offering from greenleisure.co.uk’s range of countryside-based and environmentally friendly corporate leisure activities.

Editors notes:

The Objective One stand is number 87 at the show.
