Objective One at the Royal Cornwall Show
The Objective One programme for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly will be at the Royal Cornwall Show once again this year, so come along to the stand to find out how Objective One is making a real difference and how it could help you.
The stand, which is number 87, on the forecourt of the Duchy College stand and permanent classrooms, will be manned by a range of staff who can offer expert advice and information to anyone considering making a bid for Objective One funds or who just wants to find out more.
David Rodda, Objective One senior agricultural co-ordinator, will be on hand with the other members of his agricultural development team, including Roger Metcalf and new addition Elizabeth Menmuir. Elizabeth replaces former team member Mel Sanders, who has gone to work for the NFU’s policy unit in Exeter.
Also on the stand will be Objective One programme director Bill Bawden and deputy programme director Carleen Kelemen, plus representatives from the Government Office for the South West and the South West Regional Development Agency.
Since going ‘live’ in September 2000, the Objective One programme has approved more than 200 projects across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly for more than £116 million of Objective One funding. Between them the projects are worth around £260 million in total.
This includes £13 million from Objective One for agriculture-related projects worth more than £45 million, many of which have got up and running since last year’s show and will be exhibiting this year.
Objective One programme director Bill Bawden said: “The Royal Cornwall Show is an excellent opportunity for people to come along to the stand and find out more about the Objective One programme and the opportunities it presents.
“The stand will be fully staffed for all three days to ensure we have a good spread of expertise and advice available, and there will be information that people can take away with them.
“There are, for example, about 30 Objective One funded projects to which individual businesses can now apply for cash support, training and advice, so we want to ensure we promote those as widely as possible.
“We’re all looking forward to the show and hope see as many people as possible visit our stand during the three days.”
