Ough's relaunch

Ough's is one of the very first retail businesses in Liskeard to benefit from Objective One now available for economic regeneration in Cornwall, having received investment from the Cornwall Food and Drink Partnership Scheme, administered jointly by Business Link and Cornwall Taste of the West.

Celebrating a major refurbishment of this famous food shop, building on 150 years of history under the Ough's original family name, a re-launch ceremony is to be performed by the Mayor of Liskeard, Chairman of Caradon District Council and other celebrities on Saturday, April 12th at 11.00 am. The shopping area has been re-equipped and re-modelled, and has become a showcase for Cornwall, with many farmhouse and local foods.

Enhanced by new producers and new staff, notably the award-winning Cornish chef, Roger Finnamore, our customers can now enjoy what is probably the best selection of Cornish delicacies available anywhere, every shopping day of the week.

OUGH'S ON A PLATE * snacks and light meals on the spot
OUGH'S AT HOME * taste and take away
OUGH'S AROUND TOWN
* sandwiches and office catering
OUGH'S IN A HAMPER * personal and corporate gifts

The new impetus given to the shop enables us to meet the needs of discerning 'foodies' in and around the town. A recent Fashion Parade for charity in the Public Hall in conjunction with 4 other vibrant Liskeard retail businesses, emphasises our determination to make our full contribution to the regeneration of this ancient Borough and Market Town and provide a good shopping experience in south east Cornwall.

Supported by the Duchy of Cornwall, a small group of local investors has managed the shop in recent years as early successors to the original Ough family.

With the upsurge of interest in good quality food, the business has now been re-structured and re-modelled to provide a marketplace for 30 up-and-coming Cornish farmhouse food producers, in addition to the already broad range of quality and delicatessen foods.

Cornwall Taste of the West is a £3 million Objective One umbrella project, funded by the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (EAGGF), the Department for Food, Environment and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and private matched funding. It is part of the Taste of the West speciality food group. For more information contact Carol Trewin or Grace Lobb, Cornwall Taste of the West, 01579 349363. Business Link for Devon and Cornwall is part of the national Business Link network providing help and support for small businesses in England. In Cornwall it runs a £4 million Objective One programme offering capital grants to food and drink businesses, funded by DEFRA, EAGGF and private matched funding. For more information contact Graham Woolcock on 0845 600 9966.

Taste of the West is the regional food group for the six counties of the South West, offering business development and trade support to food and drink producers. It is supported by Food From Britain, the National Farmers' Union and DEFRA.

Backed up by a loyal and enthusiastic staff, the principals of the enterprise are Roger Finnamore (Chef), Michael Horrell (Director) and Joy Worden (Manager). Like their new portfolio of suppliers, all three are of local farming stock, strengthening their prospects by turning to speciality foods. The three have experience in celebrity cooking, farmhouse cheese and wild boar meat.
