New ICT Job Search Website Launched

After a great deal of design and technological development, Penzance's Digital Peninsula Network (DPN) has launched ICT-scout, a pioneering job search website that focuses on connecting local Information Communication Technology (ICT) and creative professionals with businesses across the country.

Developed in conjunction with Silverquick Ltd, based in Penryn, ICT-scout is dynamic, practical, and incredibly easy to use. With ICT-scout businesses can easily register for free and advertise to find the right people for whatever they need, from the installation of a large computer network or the design of a complex website to the drafting of marketing copy and provision of photographic services. The details are then sent as an alert to a selection of DPN members that match the skills required.

Rupert Hitchcox recently advertised for a Website Programmer on ICT-scout for his new business www.artisticcornwall.net. This opportunity was immediately sent to professionals with the appropriate skills and within 4 hours he had received seven replies and four positive leads. He added: "I have had a fantastic response to the advert last week. It was easy to register the position on the ICT-scout website and the job was sent straight to a target market with great results. I have also had several people enquiring about the site itself which is vital to my business."

The most exciting aspect of ICT-scout is its 'Job Alert' service. Members create a profile for themselves, indicating their skills and the types of work they are interested in. When an advertiser posts a new work opportunity on the site that matches a member's profile, that member will immediately receive an email alert. No one will have to spend time browsing lists of jobs if they don't want to, but that option is there too.

Lynda Davis, Director of DPN, anticipates great success for ICT-scout: "We're all very excited about this project and expect that ICT-scout will quickly become the South West's largest and most important web-based resource for the ICT and creative sectors. It's going to connect an enormous bank of local skilled professionals with advertisers all across the country."

Ms Davis continued: "There is a tremendous wealth of ICT and creative talent in the South West. ICT-Scout will help raise both their profiles and that of Cornwall as a serious place to do business."
