Objective One To Feature In Cornwall Design Week

Objective One literature is to feature in an exhibition highlighting the best of Cornwall's designers. The Objective One Partnership quarterly reviews are small, matt booklets packed full of photographs and case studies and are used to demonstrate the success of the programme in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Issues focus on a particular theme and previous review themes include business, the Combined Universities in Cornwall and the environment. The latest, due to be published at the end of August, is focussed on the Knowledge Spa and the opportunities for health-related industries in the region.

The reviews, which were revamped in 2004, have been designed by Falmouth-based Gendall Design. During Cornwall Design Week (September 21st to 23rd), they are to be used as part of Gendall's contribution to an exhibition of the best of design work in Cornwall from members of the Cornwall Design Forum.

Phil Gendall, Managing Director, said: "From the very start the Objective One team has understood the value that good design can add. Now that the programme is so well accepted it's time to start celebrating some of the successes and achievements. The redesigned review is just one component in an integrated communication approach to do this, it will shortly be followed by a new, clearer website."

As well as the exhibition, which has been organised by Cornwall Design Forum and is open to the public, there will be three days of events and talks which will culminate in a dinner, award presentation and lecture. The special guest for that night will be fashion designer and cultural critic Wayne Hemmingway.

The event aims to build links between the design profession, the business community and the designers of tomorrow and the exhibition aims to demonstrate what Cornwall's designers can offer in print, product, web, exhibition, architecture and interior design. The exhibition and all events will be hosted at University College Falmouth's Woodlane campus.
