Higher Numbers For Truro College
Truro College welcomed a record breaking number of higher education students through the doors this week, for registration. Students arrived not only from many areas of Cornwall, but also from all across the country and the world. Some vocational and A level students have progressed from the College and other sixth form schools and colleges in the region. This is excellent news for Truro College, the University of Plymouth, and for the Combined Universities in Cornwall (CUC).
The College offers all university levels of education including Foundation Degrees and Higher National Diplomas. These programmes can lead to employment or to full degrees at the University of Plymouth and other institutions across the country.
The College has planned a variety of interesting activities for Freshers Week, including a social night, and a disco boat trip.
Next year the College is looking forward to moving most of the higher education students into the new Fal Building, which is due to open in September 2006. The new build will extend provision for the growing numbers of higher education students and provide a focal point for existing students. This is part of the college's commitment to the CUC Phase 2 project, increasing the level of Higher Education in Cornwall.
Cheryl Mewton, director of studies offered the students a warm welcome and said: "We are delighted that so many students wish to study here. The staff ensure that all students receive the best opportunities possible to achieve their study goals. We hope that every student enjoys their learning experience with us."
