Czech conference hears of Cornwall success
Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly is becoming increasingly

As the Czech regions prepare for their first full round of
structural fund programmes Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly
were one of only three European regions outside the Czech
Republic (together with Saxony in Germany and Opolskie in
Poland), that took part in a conference designed to help in
the preparation of the new Czech regional programmes.

regions outside the Czech Republic to be invited to give presentations
at this conference."
The morning session involved a three-hour seminar with senior
representatives from the Czech Republic, Poland and Germany.
A discussion was held about the quality of the current Objective
One programme across the regions, how the investment has been
applied and the quality of the subsequent projects. In the
afternoon Ms Kelemen and Mr Yeoman gave presentations illustrating
some of Cornwall's best projects and how the environment
is central to the Programme.
The conference was organised by Representation offices of
the Czech regions of Central Bohemia, Karlovy Vary, Liberec,
Pilsen and South Bohemia, in collaboration with the Committee
of the Regions. Other keynote speakers included Gerhard Stahl,
of the Committee of the Regions; Michelle Pasca-Raymondo,
